Luo Automation

Luo Automation is an innovative startup based in Delft. Founded in 2019, we are now a team of 11 driven professionals.

Our mission is to automate the visual inspection of injectable medicines, ensuring consistent quality while relieving employees from this manual and demanding task. Our fully in-house developed inspection systems can handle a wide range of containers, including vials, syringes, and ampoules, across diverse sizes and production environments. The goal is to search for defects that could potentially compromise the quality of these containers. To analyse them, we capture photos from different angles which are fed to our AI models that are trained to detect cosmetic defects (damages, cracks or production errors) and contaminations (particles inside the drug product). All this is done with the combination of multiple fields such as Data Science, Software Engineering, Machine Vision and Mechatronics.

What kind of jobs or internships are available in your company? 

At Luo Automation, we are looking for curious and motivated people for both full time jobs and internships. We would love to explore the opportunities at Luo together, especially in the following areas: Data science & research projects: e.g. data analysis/preprocessing, segmentation, experimentation with different state-of-the-art models. Software engineering: testing, multiprocessing, concurrent programming, backend (Django), frontend (htmx), Linux server management, building a data analysis library, technical debt reduction Machine vision: working hands-on with cameras and inspection systems with different lights, and calibration tools. Mechatronics & control engineering: 3D modelling (Inventor) and real-time embedded programming in Rust for mechatronic systems used in medical equipment. Business development: Setting up targets & strategies and networking in the pharmaceutical industry.
